Handelsblatt: Germany should take back Islamic State fighters

The Handelsblatt business daily argues that Germany should heed the calls of the United States and Kurdish militias fighting Islamic State in Syria and accept back captured German members of the terrorist organisation.

In an editorial on Tuesday, the paper writes in part: "There are no good options in the miseries of the fight against terrorism, but in weighing the bad ones, an orderly return of Islamic State fighters to Germany is the best one. For a start the numbers are manageable. Among the 3,000 Islamic State members in Kurdish prison camps there are around 40 German adults. The German justice system can deal with them."    (dpa)
