Islamic bloc says chief quits after mocking Egypt president

The Saudi head of the world's largest pan-Islamic body, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, resigned on Monday, an OIC statement said, days after infuriating Egypt over remarks in which he mocked President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.

OIC Secretary-General Iyad Madani "has resigned for health reasons," the Jeddah-based organisation said in a statement, two days after Cairo condemned the comments that provoked outrage among Egyptians.    (AFP)
